Hervey Bay: The Urangan Pier

In today's post, I'm gonna tell you a little history about this 868 metres long Urangan Pier in Hervey Bay. It was built in 1917 to export Bundaberg sugar, Burrum coal and Fraser Island timber until 1960s, the exports stopped and petroleum imports began. In 1980s, the Head of Pier (256 metres) was dismantled and the whole Pier was threatened with demolition then leased to Hervey Bay City Council for protection. After lunch at the Bayswater Restaurant, we came here for a relaxing walk under the sun. The 1.736 km (868 metres x 2) walk got colder and really windy as we move towards the center of the sea.

Hervey Bay: Viva Italia Pizza and Pasta

Just recently I made a post entitled, "Hervey Bay: Viva Italia". I admit that it was a silly mistake of mine to get the restaurant's name wrong because today, I'll be introducing you to Viva Italia again, but the actual pizza and pasta restaurant at Urangan. What about that particular post earlier? The title has already been changed to "Bayswater Hotel and Restaurant", but not the url though. Don't worry if my sentences did confuse you a little bit, just ignore them and enjoy the pictures below, cheers!

Hervey Bay: Bayswater Hotel and Restaurant

In today's post, I will virtually fly you all the way from wherever you are to Hervey Bay, a beautiful city situated approximately 290 kilometres north of the Queensland's state capital, Brisbane, and lies on the coast of a natural bay between the Queensland mainland and nearby Fraser Island (according to Wikipedia, of course). As we checked-in to Peppers Pier Resort, we were given some vouchers to claim free drinks from this nearby restaurant called Bayswater Hotel and Restaurant. The meals they served can only be described with one word, "terrible"!

Hervey Bay: Home Cooked Seafood Dinner

It was my first time preparing and cooking such a big meal in a resort hotel that night, the night when we visited Hervey Bay, which also happened to be our first! Yeah, we seemed to experience a lot of first times on this trip! *giggles* From the groceries stores, we've bought half a dozen of freshly frozen crabs, a kilo of prawns, few packs of instant noodles, and some broccoli. It's pretty amazing how we cooked this meal with only limited ingredients and seasoning like sugar, tomato sauce, chilli sauce, garlic, butter, and beer.
